Dream Job

Day 4 of the #NurseBlogger challenge!

What is my dream job?

My dream job would be:

1. Stay at home mom. There is nothing I would love more than to stay at home all day raising and spending precious time with my little nuggets while my hubby is working hard to support this dream of mine. I never liked the idea of someone else seeing my kids more than I do and me missing out on some of the cutest/most important milestones of a child’s life. Although this is something I have ALWAYS wanted, it’s hard to be a stay home mom and be an “independent woman that don’t need no man.” I want to be able to support myself and my kids without anyone else’s help and in order to do that I need to work SO, that dream job is going to remain exactly that, a DREAM.

NEXT IDEA

2. Hmmm…maybe something that allows me to travel the world and get paid?! A travel nurse? I don’t care what I do as long as I’m getting paid and seeing the beautiful world my amazing God created!

When I think about what I see myself doing for the rest of my life, I imagine myself being a nurse until I retire. Of course that dream may change over the years but right now I can’t imagine a better job for me. All throughout my childhood I thought I wanted to be a teacher until that dream changed during high school. I truly just don’t believe that is what I was meant to be doing at this point in my life. I still love teaching as a career and I have a lot of respect for teachers. I always tell people that once I get tired of nursing I will become a teacher and teach people about nursing. In that case, I will be doing two of the things I love the most, while still making a difference in the world because I am training the future of nurses who could be caring for me or my family member one day!

We do not exist for the sole purpose of paying our bills, grooming our kids to be able to do the same, and, maybe, someday, retiring to finally enjoy life, should we ever reach that point.  We are here to let our lights shine as brightly as possible, to drink in the joy of friendship and family, to serve and better the greater community and to tap into and inspire passion in everything we do.  We are here to come alive.” – Jonathan Fields

In order to determine your own dream job you have to ask yourself “What are the most important things in my life right now? What are the most important things I want to do for my career?” What are your skills and values? What is your ideal work environment? Strengths and weaknesses? Whatever your dream job is, you are capable of doing it. Be passionate about what you love and create the best life you can imagine for yourself. Goals and values will change along the way. Embrace it. But most importantly, do what you love and if you don’t love it, then stop doing it!

My ultimate goal right now is to travel while doing what I love, which would be travel nursing. After graduating nursing school and working for 1-2 years as a nurse, I will begin taking travel assignments across the states and enjoy the beautiful country that I live in. I’m single, with no kids and no obligations holding me to the beautiful state of Florida so I am ready to break off on my own and do what I love while traveling this amazing world!
